Conditionally essential amino acid
L-Arginine
A raw material your body draws on more heavily during periods of physical stress — including while a wound is being managed.
What it is
L-Arginine is an amino acid your body normally makes in adequate amounts. It's called conditionally essential because during metabolic stress — surgery, injury, or an active wound — the body's requirement can rise beyond what it produces on its own, so dietary intake becomes more important.
The role it plays
Your body uses arginine as a building block in several processes that are naturally more active during wound management. It's a direct precursor to proline, one of the core amino acids in collagen. It contributes to nitric oxide production, which is part of normal blood flow and perfusion. And it's a substrate immune cells use as they carry out their routine work.
In short, arginine supplies material the body's own repair and immune machinery relies on — it doesn't act on the wound directly.
